Maria Elisabete Costa PhD., Assist. Prof.
Elizabete Costa is an Assistant Professor at the University of Aveiro since 1997. She got her PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1997. Her PhD thesis work was focused on the study of Zinc Oxide porous ceramics for humidity sensors applications: it included the ceramics processing studies and the evaluation and modelling of the porous sensors electrical response to humidity changes as well. Currently her R&D interests cover a wide range of materials with different compositions, dimensionality and properties for electronic and biomedical applications. This includes the synthesis and processing of nanoparticles, nanostructures, thin films, ceramic bulk materials and ceramic polymer composites and the characterization of their structure, microstructure, mechanical, dielectric, piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. She has been involved in 7 R&D projects and in 5 European R&D actions and projects on the development and characterization of electrical and biomedical materials. She has(is) supervised(sing) 3 Post Doc, 4 PhD and 10 Masters in her scientific area. During her R&D activities she has published 63 papers in scientific journals (56 in SCI journals) which also reflect the collaborations held with several Portuguese and foreign R&D groups. Her h factor is 10 with 474 citations. She currently acts as referee of scientific papers submitted to international scientific journals. In addition to the teaching and R&D activities, she is and has been involved in various scientific and pedagogic management positions at the University of Aveiro. [SUGRĮŽTI ATGAL]
